THE WEISS CHRONICLES

The past few days I have been taking Oxycontin for my tooth pain (along w Ibuprofen).

Last night I took one tab of the Oxycontin just before going to sleep (about 1130pm).

I had some very weird dreams (the Torah readings of Toldot and Va Yaitzei have numerous dreams related in them and those are the most recent readings).

For example, I dreamed I was the manager of an predominantly gay baseball team and there was an argument over how to arrange the post game pink and lavender pastries (I work with kosher pastries and the company has catered at least one gay wedding recently). Anyway, the cartoon is from "Kyle's Bed and Breakfast" (the character on the left is Kyle who has been agonizing over whether to come out for 15 years).

Then I dreamed that I was in charge of the laundry operation for a Jedi training camp (I've been doing a lot of laundry lately since Ann's wrist injury precludes her working on this).

I have a bad feeling about this.

Tooth Out

I had a tooth extracted. It began to hurt last night. The pain got to about 9 on the pain scale and, although two ibuprofen tablets did relieve the pain, it wasn't for that long.

It was the tooth next to the tooth that was fixed on October 15 (see below story on that issue).

There was an infection near the tooth extracted today and it may have been a result of the crack in the neighbor tooth.

Teeth are numbered. The one that was fixed on October 15 was tooth number 29. The tooth taken out today was tooth number 30.

They gave me the extracted tooth to take home. That's it on the top left. The extraction took several pulls but not quite as much as in the cartoon.

There was some additional work beyond the extraction, namely removal of bone tissue that was infected. This is making the recovery period painful from time to time.

I have some pain medicine and some antibiotic to take. Oddly enough, both Trina Cat and I are now taking the same antibiotic (amoxycillin) and both of us will end our antibiotic treatment program about Wednesday of next week.

Mistake may lead to new cuisine

Sometime last month I was making some salmon stir fry.

We get salmon stir fry pieces at the store for about half the price of salmon steaks.

Anyway, I wasn't paying attention and left the salmon in the fryer too long. It got crispy (so, in effect, I pan fried it) and I served the crispy salmon to Ann who loved it (more than the sauteed salmon). It really tastes good with rice.

I looked up some recipes to see if anyone else had done that and apparently, there is a whole new 'crispy salmon' cuisine (it predates my 'discovery' by many years I think).

I'm hoping to try a baked version (like in the image) where you use flour to cover the salmon and then bake it at 425F (it would be less messy).

BtW, food mistakes are common. In today's NYTimes, they admit to multiple mistakes in their 50 state Thanksgiving special.

Is Yoga Hiding a Problem

To the left is Trina Cat (aka Katrina).

She is doing cat Yoga on the winter blanket.

I took her to the Veterinarian a few weeks ago. Her blood levels and vital signs were good but she had a bacterial infection and thus they were not allowed to do the vaccinations she was supposed to get.

Even worse, she had lost 3 pounds in the past year. It was from about 14# to about 11#. Now 11# isn't too bad, it is still a good cat weight. However, if she got down to, say 8#, that would be bad.

We have a antibiotic I am giving to her. We hope that stops the weight loss. We'll see.

Saw Play Downtown

Ann had planned to see the play "Bad Jews" on Sunday 11-9, but couldn't go. So I went. I got a ride with 3 other people. The play got excellent reviews.

The play is about 90 minutes basically an argument between a sister and brother (that's them in the image - its from a Washington Post review) over who gets a silver Chai owned previously by their recently deceased grandfather.

Actually the play should be called "Neurotic/Psychotic Jews" because of the way they argued. Personally, I don't mind neurotic Jews because I like Woody Allen movies. However, I found this argument, while occasionally having some humor, to be way to fervent and intense.

Bones Reset

Ann had the wrist surgery today.

It included using small titanium screws to hold bones together (as in the image- although Ann has two bones with such screws in her wrist).

per the surgery team, this should not set off the alarms at the TSA screening nor prevent a future MRI if that becomes needed.

We were told that therapy will take another two or three weeks.

Apple Calls

Give Apple corp some credit for vigilance.

Someone put in an order to pick up two I-Phone6s at a California store having purchased them on line with a credit card belonging to someone in Maryland.

That someone in Maryland was us. The I phone purchasers or someone working with them had evidently stolen credit card information for one of our credit cards (CapitalOne).

We cancelled the card and CapitalOne will be sending us a new one. This resulting in some busy work because a number of bills (e.g., auto insurance) are paid automatically from the CapitalOne card. The busy work, in turn, resulted in me going to bed without finishing all my chores (e.g., George didn't get a lunch made).

An afternoon at the opera and then at the ER

Ann went with a friend to the Kennedy Center to see La Boheme.

On the way she tripped and fell and used her right hand to brace the fall.

The EMTs at the Kennedy Center gave her some ice but by the time the opera was over the swelling in her hand was pretty severe.

She got a ride to the ER at Suburban Hospital where I met her. The x-ray showed a couple of broken bones in the wrist (the end of the two long bones in the image).
