Passed Up a Free Parking Spot in DC

I had been asked to do kosher supervision for an event at the AIPAC building in DC. The caterer told me I could park for free just north of the AIPAC building.

However, it was very nice weather and I had stuff to read so I took the bus to the Metrorail and walked a free blocks from the Judiciary square stop near F and 4th street to the AIPAC building which was on H st between 2nd and 3rd.

The bus had its windows open and it was a nice ride. On the way home, I got a metrorail car within about 30 seconds of getting to the platform and then got the 42 Ride On bus to my house about 1 minute after getting to the bus stop near the White Flint metrorail station.

But I missed a chance for a free parking place only about 5 blocks from the US Capitol.

Satan and the Flu Shot

Ann and I each got a flu shot yesterday. Just before we got in there was an incident.

A woman had said the flu shot tech would be going to hell for giving flu shots. The tech tried to get the woman to leave the flu shot area and see the manager but the woman started screaming that the tech had hit her.

Later I told the tech that someone had told me I was going to purgatory (Gehenna) but did so in an email subsequent to another email cursing me for not being his co signer on a business loan that he thought he deserved. Well apparently that didn't cheer her up no doubt because she was going to have to see her boss about the incident.

A Chill Experience

While waiting for Ann to take the test (see below post) I walked around the U of Maryland campus for a while with Gerry Berg. Then Berg left and I hung out at a Shopper's Warehouse near the center where Ann was taking the test.

I took a seat in the cafe they have there and drunk about 6 cans of the generic cola (SEE IMAGE) they sell there as it was about 33 cents a can. After the first four cans I switched to the non caffeinated type. Both types of soda seem to actually make you more thirsty for more soda. I think that must be a marketing tool. I brought two cans to drink on the drive home.

Ann Passes Tumor Registration Test

The NCRA (see logo on left) has a test that is the main part of certification. There is also some other things such as verification of prerequisites or some such checking.

Ann took the test today (it was given at a testing center near College Park and took about 4 hours or so) and passed it. Thus unless the NCRA discovers she is a felon or something else sinister she will be a Certified Tumor Registrar which they call a CTR.

The Vigilance of the IRS

I was late filing my 1040 this year because of a delay in getting a K-1 from one of our companies (yes I had received an extension).

Finally, a few days ago I was able to file by electronic submission. I was surprised to see that, a few days after that I received a e-note from the IRS that there was a problem with my return. The attachment to the e-note indicated a problem in one of the 1099R input forms. After a few minutes I saw the mistake. I had typed a '6' instead of a '9' in one of the nine numbers that made the digital federal ID of the payer. Yes, it was a mistake that didn't make any difference whatsoever in the tax liability. You do have to respect the vigilance though
