Soda Cat 1992 (est) -2011

Soda died today. He had been very sick; not eating, not having water, not moving without considerable effort. He was only about 3-4 pounds when he died (he was once about 17 pounds). The vet administered the euthanasia.

We buried him in the backyard. He is in one of his favorite towels. On top of his grave I placed several cubic feet of red mulch (because he was a red tabby).

The picture in the sun room was taken about 5 years ago.

We got Soda from the Montgomery Humane Society in 1996.

He was a very sweet cat and had a very nice purr. He let everyone pet him and was good to children too. My mother really liked him (Soda's niceness convinced her there was a God) and so did Ann's mother (first time she saw Soda, she said, "my goodness, what do you feed that cat".

Bye Bye Brothers
Hello Cannon

After about 10 years, our multifunction (fax, printer, copier, answering machine) stopped working.

We changed brands and got one without the answering machine component. The audio quality of this was always inferior and we get the function done by our cable company anyway (although this has problems also).

G is sworn in to Maryland Bar.

We went to Annapolis to see George being sworn in to practice law at the Maryland Bar.


It was a very nice day for a walk which is good since it was about a half mile from the parking lot to the courthouse. The walk wasn't so bad because there was a lot of nice landscaping.

Broken Dreams

I had another dream.

I was going to a meeting in DC in the building where I used to work.

There was a security station and I had to put my wallet, cell phone and other items in a tray before going through the security station.

When I got to the other side, I went to pick up my stuff. The cell phone was destroyed.

Shopping for Matzah after Shavuos

Well, the local Giant had a 'long after Passover' sale today.

The Matzah was going for 30 cents a pound. So was the large boxes of potato starch and cake mix.

I couldn't resist.

I got 4 pounds of Matzah and one each of the other two.

A Dream Buffet

I had a dream that we (Ann and I) were on a cruise.

It was lunch time. There was a kosher buffet and we were in line.

All of a sudden there was an announcement,

"The buffet will remain kosher for the next 30 minutes."

I woke up but if I hadn't who knows what would have happened. Would the buffet close or would hot pork drippings land on the trays?

Echo Cardiogram for Ann

Ann had an echocardiogram on June 10.

This was subsequent to having difficulty breathing on June 9.

Reading the images seems to indicate a tear in one of the heart valves and also a resizing of the two ventricles (they are supposed to be the same size but one was bigger than the other).

Next week, she will have an endoscope reading which will give another view of the area and an angiogram which will tell if there is any arterial blockage. We'll go from there.

Benign

Ann has surgery yesterday. Her ovaries were removed.

This was done based on radiological evidence that she had a tumor.

It was laparoscopic (also called minimally invasive) surgery.

As is usual with minimally invasive surgery, she did not have to stay in the hospital overnight.

After surgery, the tumor was examined and it was benign. Thus no further treatment.

All good news.

The image is of ovarian cells (I think the larger cells are the cancerous ones).
