Ann and I went to the Center for the Performing Arts yesterday. The concert we attended was in the Terrace theatre. It was just right for this string quartet.
The first piece was called "Sabina" a 2014 or so composition by Andrew Norman.
It started with the viola and cello making sounds as if they were tuning up and then went on from there in somewhat ethereal and disjointed way but not in-your-face atonal.
The second piece was from 1928 by Leos Jancek and was not bad.
It was a bit disjointed and parts of it were somewhat scary and borderline insane (the composer was in the last 6 months of his life at age 73 and in unrequited love with a married woman 40 years younger than he).

Our tickets were a gift from Alan and Hanna Fisher. It was nice weather day. The image has Georgetown in

The piece after intermission was Opus 127 by Beethoven in E flat (mostly) and was wonderful. They actually played an encore also but I forgot what it was.
The quartet was the Calder Quartet and they are apparently famous and have been on late night TV (I don't know what they did then) shows like "Late Night" and "The Tonight Show" and others of that type.
