Another Odd Dream

I dreamt that I was in Israel with Ann (we are currently planning a trip there).

In the dream, I had two waiters fired. One I got fired for telling me I had to move my car before being served (we are thinking about renting a car). The other was fired for refusing to let me have a second cup of coffee.

In the entertainment news lately have been a number of stories about celbrities who have caused waiters to be fired.

Here is one from last month about a Beverly Hill, CA waitress who complained via twitter about actress Jane Adams not paying for something.

Here is one about a restaurant assistant manager in Lake Tahoe, NV who asked to see the ID of a young woman who, accompanied by football QB Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsbrugh Steelers) ordered a drink.

Here is one from earlier this month in which a Rhode Island waiter gets fired for telling 'actor' Kevin Spacey that he couldn't smoke in a restaurant (per State law). Bonus here is that Spacey used an obscenity.

Each of these events was, I think, in the 'news' in the supermarket tabs I read while in line to buy groceries.

Hey It Sparks

Last week we had a car problem. The car didn't start well on Thursday night. G tried to jump the battery Friday morning. Then we got a new battery and it didn't fix the problem.

As we put in the new battery there were some small sparks and G said,

"Hey it sparks. I guess that means the battery works."

Actually what it meant was that there was a malfunctioning circuit somewhere in the car.

"Say Hello for Me"

I was at the large Giant today. They had a sale on kitty litter and I bought 3 super large bottles.

At the counter the person in front of me (a woman in her 70s 80s or 90s) asked,

"You have cats?"

"Yes, two." I answered.

"I used to have cats." she said, "but I gave them up when I went into an apartment because there wasn't room for both my plants and my cats because the plants are bad for the cats if they eat it."

"Oh." I said.

"Well say hello to your cats for me."

A Day of Meetings and an Incident

I had two meetings out of the house on Nov 10 (this was the first time that has happened since I retired). One meeting was in Rockville, one at the U of Maryland, College Park.

On the way home I was going to stop in the Giant at Cabin John Mall. However, it was closed and emergency vehicles were all over the place.

Apparently there was a mysterious odor coming from some part of the Giant. The odor went away and the source couldn't be identified.

Halloween Incident

I had bought about 4 dozen bags of M & Ms to give out Oct 31 on Halloween (2 ounce bags, not like the larger one on the left).

As I put some bags in a pot to get them ready to give away to the trick or treaters (we only had about two dozen), Ann said,

"now don't gorge yourself on these".

Then she took a bag for herself.
