Seneca Creek Winter Lights 

This is the second year in a row all of us (Oz, Tamar, Ann, M) went to the Winter Lights show at Senaca Lake Park. I think they added some more this year. It was delightful and the electronic ticket process worked again. And yes there was a menorah or two in the display. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I took some pictures but they didn't come out as good as the one of the dragon in front of the castle that comes from a Montgomery County website.

Blood Plasma Donation 

This was my first donation in several months (it was Nov 21). I didn't donate while in therapy for my knee. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. Vitals were: BP= 136/84 Pulse= 58, Hemoglobin = 16.2 I remembered this when I had a knee therapy consult today and they measured my BP for some reason (it was higher than at Red Cross but they use a different protocol).

Oz Meets Someone 

At Montgomery Mall Tamar and Oz met Santa. Monday evenings are among the least crowded times of the week and Oz had Santa to himself. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... "What gift would you like?" asked Santa "Paw Patrol" responded Oz "I can do that." said Santa Since Paw Patrol has been around a few years this will be easy. Even the second hand stores have Paw Patrol merchandise.

Thanksgiving Iris 

I noticed these blooming today. If you look close you can see there was enough plant for another bloom a few inches above the two shown. I presume a deer got it. I planted these 'double season' irises a few years ago but this year, due to trimming the magnolia tree, the plant got enough sunlight to do the second season. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I am, however, suprised at the 22 November appearance and after we have had several hard frosts.

Turkey before cut up 

I was given a cooked Turkey (by a caterer I work with) yesterday. It has the thyme and rosemary on the outside skin and had a red onion cooked on the inside. I cut it up today. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... It weighed about 10 pounds. Will use it for Thanksgiving. I also plan to have it for Friday sabbath dinner with some zuccinni and eggplant and diced tomato.

Tis the Seasoning 

Yesterday I was at the caterer in the early a.m. This is the peak turkey cooking part of the year. As seen in the image, two herbs, rosemary and thyme (enlarge the image by clicking to see the labels better), seem to be used in many turkey preparation recipies. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... So this was my 7am washing/checking assignment (followed later by cilantro).

Oz's Favorite Episode 

Oz has a favorite episode of Road Runner and Coyote. It is a 3D episode where Wile E. Coyote orders 'Giant Spray' on line using his laptop. The spray makes the Coyote big. Unfortunately, as with all episodes, the end result isn't pretty. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... But what I found especially interesting is that Oz asked me to get some of the giant spray as he assumes this product actually exists. ........................................................................................................Postscript: I told someone about this at Harris Teeter while waiting in line. She said, "So did you buy any today?"

Roses still in bloom 

The rose plants are still blooming although not as much as they do during the peak season. There have been a few frost days already and that is why the lily stalk has withered and yellowed. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................If you look closely (after clicking to enlarge) you can see a few rose buds still getting ready to bloom.

Extended Family Lunch

Leaf Watching at its most convenient 

On the west side of the house, near the southwest corner is a small window. I have let the branches grow too close to the house and I'll have to take care of that soon. The two pictures are on the same day but with different lighting and a different distance from the window. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... However, for the moment, it is a nice convenient leaf watching window.

Beth told him to put a sweater on to go to the early childhold center learning. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................' Then Oz said, "But then my friends won't see my coyote shirt".

Oz and Tamar at National Zoo 

On 5 November, Tamar and Oz went to the National Zoo. They wanted to see the pandas before the pandas were taken back by China. They also got to take a gag picture of them posing as some kind of animal. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... The animals are, I think, meercats. Related to the mongoose.
