A Nice Cherry Blossom Drive 

In addition to seeing individual cherry blossom trees or small groves of them, it is also nice to drive through a cherry blossom filled area. Many people drive around the tidal basin in Washington D.C. I have done that and also walked around it during the season. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... But the proliferation of cherry blossom trees over the past few decades has created suburban cherry blossom drives. One such drive is only about 2 miles from our house. It is north of Montrose Road and the neighborhood is called Montrose Hills. There are several streets with the cherry blossom trees (middle season bloomers) on both sides. There is probably at least 1/2 mile of such streets, maybe double that. This photo was take on Evelyn Drive which intersects Montrose. BTW, there are a lot of cherry blossom trees in the National Arboretum. A video of this is here.

Middle Blooming Cherry Blossoms are out 

About a month ago I had some images of the early blooming cherry blossom trees. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now the middle blooming ones are out. These two trees are right across the street from us. The near one is a weeping cherry blossom. The color is much pinker to the eye but if you click to expand, it does make it better.

Odd nightmare: I dreamt I was telling a joke 

In the dream there were about a half a dozen people listening to me. My joke involved something about Transportation I think. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... However, in the dream I forgot the joke. Then woke up.

Polyps and More Ornamental Pears 

I picked up George after his colonoscopy today. He had 5 polyps, three of which were relatively large (lab work in process on the polyps). Image only shows two, ....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................I didn't like that news so I took another images of a grove of ornamental pears, this near the intersection of Arcola and Kemp Mill roads.

Bahama Cruise 12-19 March

The image is from our balcony stateroom while our ship was docked at Nassau. Two of the ships are about the same size as our ship carrying about 2200 passengers. One ship (the one with the pointed bow facing the camera) was bigger and carries 4400 passengers.

Ornamental Pear Trees Near Our House 

The ornamental pears are still in peak bloom. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... This image is from near our house. We are on the right in the image (no recycle can on the street).................................................................................................................... These trees are probably near peak height for the species which is way they spread over the road now.

Heidi: Nine Nails Clipped 

Last week, over a three evening period I was able to clip 9 of Heidi's nails. It was three each night before she was able to escape....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I spoke to Rhonda at "Last Chance Rescue" which is the place we used to adopt Heidi. I mentioned the sucess in nail clipping but confessed that I hadn't been able to get Heidi into the cat carrier. Rhonda said that this was because Heidi now loves us and is afraid the carrier will be used to take her away from us. That is a nice way of thinking about it.

Ornimental Pear Trees - Another Sign of Spring 

The ornimental pear tree, Pyrus calleryana, is not as common around our neighborhood as, say, cherry blossoms, dogwoods, forsythia, carpet phlox, northern magnolias and, probably the most often seen in neighborhoods, the azalea. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. However, it is a nice tree, easily grown, hardy, needs little maintenance and no fertilizer. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. . This image is a grove at the corner of Montrose and Parklawn, in front of an industrial center.

Gas Bill 

As you can see, the image shows our usage of natural gas from Jan and Feb of 2022 to Jan and Feb of 2023 ...................................................................................................................... The decline, mostly due to warmer weather was about 25% ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... but our bill only decreased by about 4%............................................................................... ...................................................................................................................... Boo.
