Oz can sit up now

The guy in the striped pants is Oz.

Based on the picture I think he now sits with the 1 to 2 year olds.

I don't have a current weight but I think he is up to a bit over 10 kg . The weight is enough that the pediatricians say he should drink water sometimes between nursing.

In Annapolis Again

Ann and I took what was about our 8th or so trip to Annapolis over the Feb 16-17 period, which included President's day.

We saw the same things we usually do so I won't bother describing them.

However, this time I looked at the Annapolis circulator route before making the hotel reservation. We used this free service both days.

What was interesting was a conversation Ann had with one of the drivers. Ann said she thought this service was nice and that, without it, downtown Annapolis would be a vehicle congestion nightmare.

The driver said that in his opinion the service is almost unused. He said he gets fewer than two dozen people a day from the hotels and maybe a few people who recently moved into condos on the route and also a half dozen or so midshipmen.

If so, it makes for a very low passenger per mile count because the route is about 4 miles and it is done about 20 to 30 times a day.

Valet Tire Service

Yesterday I decided to use the 'valet' tire service. They pick up your car, bring it to the store, put the tires on and bring it back to you.

Everything worked. I was on mashgiach duty when the car was picked up and when it was dropped off again (about 90 minutes later). The car felt different somehow but then I realized the seat had been moved forward. When I changed it back it felt just the same.

Of course it wasn't as inexpensive as, say, getting it done at Sam's Club (some people I know do that) but I didn't have to drive 10 miles and wait around and then drive home again - also I'm not a member of Sam's Club). Tires certainly cost more than they did, say 15 years ago but there are some valid reasons for this. First, the tires have multiple layers of engineered material and this has become more complex over the years. Second, some tires, like mine, have sensors that report low tire pressure to the driver if it is applicable. Third, tire disposal fees are up a lot from 15 years ago.

Blood Donation, Bad Movie, Better Blood Pressure

I saw the movie Pineapple Express while giving platelets today. Not a great movie. Pineapple Express is a variety of marijuana and the movie is all about a slacker/stoner (played by Seth Rogan - middle in the image) who witnesses a murder and interacts with his marijuana supply chain to try to evade being killed for witnessing the murder. Because people are stoned, the jokes are all people who get things wrong or are un self aware. Here is an example that I liked,

Rogan - I have a pretty good job. I get to smoke doobies most of the day in between doing some minimal work (he is a process server).

James Franco (Rogan's marijuana dealer - right in the image) - I wish I had a job like that.

Rogan - You do.

Franco - Yeah. Really?

Rogan - In fact that is your whole job.

Anyway, my blood pressure was 120/82 an improvement over the 130/82 a month ago.

Gasoline for under $2/gallon

It is sort of a mini saving but here is how it happened.

Giant Food has some sort of partnership with Shell Oil. I don't understand what the partnership is but that doesn't matter. What matters is the outcome.

The left side of the image shows a grocery receipt from Giant that gives me $0.50/gallon saving. As the fuel receipt on the right shows, that $0.50 saving brought the per gallon price down to, just barely, under $2.00.

I might not have bothered with this but for the chance at an under $2/gallon event and I was driving by a station anyway.
