Yarzheits Tammuz 4

Two of these people died Tammuz 4, 5769 (Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson). One, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, died on Tammuz 4, 5754 (it was after sunset on June 12, 1994).

So they will all have the same Yarzheit.

Don Cymrot reminded me of Schneerson's yarzheit yesterday. This was after I told him a story I read about Farah. According to the story, Farah was so beautiful that when she was in college (a junior or senior), guys would like the path she was known to use to get between classes and they would applaud as she went past. I called this story a midrash as it perhaps has a germ of truth but can not be relied on in all details.

Rabbi Schneerson was 92 when he died. Farah Fawcett was 62. Michael Jackson was 50.

Tire Problem

G took the car to a restaurant. When he came out one tire was flat.

We got the tire changed by our USAA service (no charge). G couldn't do it himself because the lugnuts were on too tight.

Then (this is on a Sunday btw) he took the car to the place we got the tires. They determined a valve had failed.They replaced the valve for free (although it did take about 2 hours for the trips, diagnostic and repair).

Sodacat on Meds again

Our older cat, Soda, went to the veterinary cardiologist this week. They gave him a sonogram and it seems some of the heart muscles are enlarged and stiff (which is probably the cause of a heart murmur that was detected at the veterinary internist he normally goes to).

The prescription from the cardiologist was beta blockers. The medicine is pretty cheap considering beta blockers have been used for a long time and generics are available and also the dosage is low (about 10% of what a people dose would be).

He currently takes thyrocsin for his thyroid (also cheap).

Another Strange Dream

Friday night (June 12-13) I dreamt that somehow I had befriended somebody who died and left me control of his business. His business was providing technical support (procurement of instruments and materials, security assessments, etc.) for manufacturers and distributors of methamphetamine (image is a meth lab without the 'action').

The first thing I did in the business is to call an all employee meeting (there were about a half a dozen employees). I told them that one of the first things I planned to do was determine if this was a legal business. One of the employees then asked, "Does this mean I'm going to lose my job?" (said in a Mexican accent).

National Museum of Health and Medicine (in the Walter Reed Campus), Washington DC

Ann and I went to this museum today. The Walter Reed Campus will be closing in a year or so and we weren't sure how much longer the museum would be open.

My favorite exhibits were the civil war and the special hairball exhibit. The left image shows a fatal injury taken by a Northern Soldier in the Civil War (this was about the time the then Surgeon General founded the institute that would become Walter Reed Hospital Center), the right image shows a hairball taken from a 12 year old girl who compulsively ate her own hair.

Ann liked the museum more than I did and took about 45 minutes longer to go through it. They had the most pitiful gift shop I've seen in a while. The only thing I thought worth buying was a cuddle toy lice.

A False Blasphemy

After supper on June 5, we had a game with an unusual number of 'HEELS' (when starter card is a Jack).

The first hand had such a heels and the beneficiary was George who immediately said, "Well its only 2 points".

I said, "That is an insincere blasphemy."

and G added, "you idiots, there aren't any "Heels Gods to Offend" (implying that only Nobs Gods exist I think).
