Changing Planter Boxes for Winter 

I was at Boiling Brook Plaza today and saw a gardening operation. The summer plants were being removed from planters and winter vegetation was, presumably going in. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ The planter boxes separate parking spaces and I suppose it makes the view a bit less harsh.

Blast from the Past - Cruise that stopped in Florida 

This was from our first cruise (I think) but I forgot what year it was in. We stopped in Key West and saw the southern point of US Route 1. This was before I did blogs for individual cruises. ....................................................... .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I remember we also saw Ernest Hemingway's house in Key West and noticed the cat colony there. I took a picture of this picture since we throwing it away (it's too big for the wall).

Autumn Colors w T and Oz 

We didn't go on any autumn tree color sight seeing. Oz is in day school M-F and we have things to do on Sunday. However, there are plenty of nice maple trees around here. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... This one is only a few houses up the street from us. The tree must be at least 60' tall. So I got a 'far away' and a 'closer in'. Click on image to enlarge.

Tooth Out 

Finally had this molar taken out today. This addresses the same issue that was the subject of a post about a month ago. The color on the tooth is because of the bleeding. It is called tooth#18 rather than left bottom last molar. Fortunately the root didn't break so I'll probably need less pain killer than I did in 2014 when I had a different tooth pulled. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I can expect lots of encouragement to get an implant but at this point I don't plan to get one.

Back from Memphis 

I was in Memphis last weekend and Monday 23 Oct. I was with old college friends. We did some touring. The image above is from the Elvis Presley Museum and shows the 'Chai' that Elvis wore during a period that he was into Kaballah. Oddly, the necklace holding the Chai only has 17 diamonds (rather than 18 which is numeric value of Chai in Kaballah and Hebrew numerology). Only bad things that happened was 1. I had trouble finding the number to call the complimentary van to the hotel (ultimately taking a cab) and 2. The elevator was out at one point in the hotel and I had to climb the stairs with my cane on a day I was having touble walking. New Rules at Airport today 

On the way to Memphis today to meet old college friends. Two surprises. I had two scissors in my carry on. One they removed because it was too big. I'm pretty sure the previous time I was on a plane this wasn't a problem. The other surprise was that I had to take off my shoes. If I had been 75 yrs old, I wouldn't have had to do this. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ At least they let me keep the marking pens I have in the carry on.

I Actually Had a Spare Part I Needed 

One of the dials that controls the temperature of the burners on the stove top has had to be replaced several times since we moved here in the 90s and got a new stove. The previous time it had to be replaced, I got an extra dial..... ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Amazingly enough I was actually able to find the replacement and it fit.

Stopped at Siena today so T and O could look for some clothes. While there Oz got Pizza. This year's sukkah, like last years, was set up by students from the Hebrew Academy. The decorations came from Israel via Tamar and Oz. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Tamar let me take Oz to grocery store without her 

My first time taking Oz somewhere without his mother. He really likes riding in the grocery car. He loves to point out things and especially liked the holloween balloons. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... When we were in the soft drink area, Oz said, "We need to get coca cola for Uncle George"

British Airlines let Oz fly the plane 

At Heathrow somebody let Oz be in the pilot seat before the flight. I guess they do this to get the airline good vibes. ....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... It works. Also, he looks cute in his spiderman suit.

Arrival of Tamar and Oz 

Picked up Tamar and Oz at BWI today. Plane was late, passport control was slow, then there was a traffic jam on the way south on I-95. ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Fortunately I was able to bypass almost all the jam by using the intercounty connector. The only good thing about this trip (besides seeing Tamar and Oz) was that I parked in an illegal space (unknowingly - didn't realize it till I got back to the car) and didn't get a ticket.

Reward for Flu and Covid Shots 

Tuesday am, Ann and I got flu and covid shots. They weren't available in our immediate neighborhood but were at a CVS a few miles away. Ann was pleased at the efficiency of the process and since we were near a Krispy Kreme, she said we could get some on the way home. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... The Krispy Kreme place on Shady Grove Road in Rockville had a nice drive through window. We got a dozen regular.

not root canal - tooth extraction 

Last week on Friday, I went to the endodontist. We had a conversation. He said that he would be glad to do the work but he wasn't sure how deep the tooth infection went and a cap might have to be replaced. After more discussion, I made the decision to go for a tooth extraction. They gave me a prescription for an anti infection agent and a pain relief agent (codeine). ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Today I had a consult with the oral surgeon. They took another, higher tech, x-ray but didn't see the problem. However they did schedule an extration for later this week (actual extration was 26 Oct). The tooth to be extracted is the last molar on the bottom left of my mouth.
