This is a relatively small park (about 5 miles of River frontage and ~1500 acres) compared to Shenandoah National Park (100+ miles long and ~80,000 acres).It does contain the Shenandoah River, which, notwithstanding, the 1971 John Denver Song 'Co
untry Roads' is almost all in Virginia with only a small section in West Virginia (also only a small section of the Blue Ridge Mountains is in WV).

The second image is a 'do not feed the bears' instruction that is affixed to many picnic tables in the park.

We saw this park after the Skyline drive visit. It is off route 340 about 8 miles south of Front Royal. Although I can remember several visits to Skyline drive this is the first time I've visited this park as it only opened in 1999.

One of my lily 'trees' looked very nice and I was thinking of bringing a stalk into the house.
It was a white trumpet lily tree and it has another name but I can't remember it. It is protected from the deer by some rosemary I have in the front of this garden or at least that is my theory.
However I changed my mind.
I decided it looked so good in the yard that I would leave it and let the various pedestrians look at it.
Instead I brought in some purple and some red cone flowers and added them to flowers that survived in the vase from the previous sabbath.
The two parrot lilies were there last week and still look pretty good.
Ann thinks the vase came from Sonya Bellak.
