New Easy Chair 

Got a new easy chair today. It is electric powered. Set up only took about 5-10 minutes and the set up team brought the old chair to the basement where Tamar wanted it. She is setting up a 'playroom' down there. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. It wasn't cheap but the chair height is better than the old one (which helps me to get up and down while recuperating from the hip operation) and the cushioning is more substantial and there is a place to store a laptop. Also, today I walked with a cane instead of the walker for the first time since the operation.

Suitcase Cover 

Once upon a time suitcases all looked pretty much the same. Then many customized designs were available. Today any suitcase can be made into an individualized product by having a suitcase cover made. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. In the picture, the 'Paw Patrol' cartoon (highly anthropomophized and personable police dogs and much liked by Oz) is the main design and the name of the suitcase owner is also on the cover. There is no real need for a suitcase cover but it does cost less than a new suitcase. This was available only on line.

Oxycodone 

Most of the prescriptions I received post operation were picked up Tuesday by Irwin just before I got home. One of the prescriptions had a problem that required an additional certification from Medstar. Tamar picked that up on Wednesday. Since beginning to take Oxycodone I noticed a big decrease in my appetite and continuing constipation (which began after anesthesia I assume). I was reading about the side effects of Oxycodone on the Mayoclinic website. One of the symptoms of an overdose is 'loss of consciousness'. .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. Seems that if this occurs it may be pretty late to start 'cutting back'.

Hip Replacement 

The first image is the post operation x ray. The image was taken yesterday. It showed the new parts added to the original equipment of the manufacturer. This image shows both right and left hips.

The second image is the before operation X ray in late April 2024. It only shows the left hip. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. I was hoping I would be able to come home the day of the surgery but I didn't recover quickly enough from the anesthesia. So I came home today. Irwin came to the hospital to pick me up and drive to the pharmacy. Unfortunately the pharmacy only filled some of the prescribed medicines (they wouldn't give the Oxycodone without a verbal authorization from the physician) so I am working on getting the rest done. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Otherwise it seemed to have gone reasonably well.

Oz Going to Class, Oz at Car Wash 

Oz has progressed to the point where he is OK with me driving him to his tai kwon doe camp without his mom being in the car .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. As we were driving Oz said to me, "Grampa, you can put on the radio now since Grandma and my mommy aren't in the car."

On several of his previous visits we went to the car wash which Oz found very interesting. This year the tai kwon doe camp did a field trip to the car wash. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... and they took it to another level by having snack consumption while watching the car wash operation. ..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Oz is Well Armed with high capacity Water Guns  

Oz got 2 high capacity water guns today. Very useful on hot days when playing outside with other kids... ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Many years ago George, who at the time was older than Oz is now, made a similar purchase (with cash I had given him for the purposes of purchase). Prior to that time I had been discussing with him the existance of small countries in Europe. As he purchased the water guns, the clerk asked him "What are you planning to do with those?" George responded, "Let's just say that Monaco's days of independance are ending."

Pepco Restores Power Quickly 

We had a severe storm warning about 530 PM, then heavy rain and lightening, then about 545 PM the power went out. The cell phone continued working and apparently so did the wifi so I went to the PEPCO website. They provided info that there were about 15,000 without power in the PEPCO service area but the outage I experienced was in an area with only several hundred customers w/o power. Power restoration was estimated to be by 800PM. .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... We got power restored about 730 PM.

Another Birthday Party for Oz 

This is Oz moving a chair into place for his birthday party. We had about 20-30 people over. The kids played outside. We had bagels, cream cheese, lox, vegetables, fruit and cake. Lots was left over. Two things we forgot to do. The first was to take pictures at the cake or with all the kids or with all the adults. The second was giving away 'goodie bags' to the kids. We can recover from the second since we know where they all live. No recovery from the first. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. ... He had birthday celebrations earlier (5 years old) in Israel back in June.

Oz Sees SW Episode IV 

Oz has a tee shirt with the Millenium Falcon and a Star Fighter. I asked him if he had ever watched Star Wars. He hadn't but knew a tiny bit about it. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. I rented an on line SW Ep IV and watched it with him. He was really into it but wanted me to skip some of the parts where there is a gory death scene, e.g., when Darth 'kills' Obi Wan. His favorite part was the Rebel Alliance fighter attack on the Death Star and he didn't get scared about with all the fighters getting shot down.

Oz at Taekwondo Camp 

Second day here. Oz went to his Taekwondo camp. It is from 9am to 5pm. .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. Picked Up Tamar and Oz at BWI 

This was the first time I picked up Tamar and Oz at BWI without parking in the short term lot. It was easier than I thought it would be. Although the image doesn't show it, the entire length of the arrival area has numbers from 1 to about 80 so that a person can tell his ride where to find them. T and O arrived at location 41 and the wifi was working well and I picked them up with no trouble about 120am on 1 July. ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Much later in the day, we went to the grocery store to get stuff for Oz's lunches (he will be in martial arts camp and having his lunches there) at the grocery store. I asked the clerk if she remembered to charge me for the iced tea. She said, "No we won't charge you but we'll have you arrested for Tea theft." Heh.
