THE WEISS CHRONICLES

 Tamar, Oz, Ann and I met Irwin at Siena in early pm. I had checked vegetables there earlier that day.

Ramesh, the Siena owner, took the picture. We brought home a calzone for George.

 There are lots of toys around at our house. In fact behind Oz was a toy box in the picture.

 

However, today, Oz played with the face shield.

 

What would the name of the superhero be?

 
I took Tamar and Oz to Cabin John Regional Park.  They have a miniature railroad there.  It has a 15 minute loop and a does a loop every 30 minutes.  In April it operates on Saturday and Sunday noon to 6 pm. About 70-90% of the seats were occupied while we were there ($5 per passenger). 

Oz had a good time on the railroad and also on various play equipment near the station and on a nearby playground.  

He got to see someone riding a miniature car. 

He seemed to play well with various other kids his age.

The close up was during the trip (taken by Tamar). The hat has Oriole colors and an Oriole insignia which you can sort of see if you enlarge the image by clicking on it. Its on Oz's right.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Oz got to watch a tree being taken down and chopped up - it was just across the street.

Also he went to a playground about a mile from us and had a good time with the various pieces of equipment and toys that other people had brought for their kids.

One of the toys was a tractor (see image) that sort of worked and looked pretty nice.

 

Also he helped with the dish washing.

Then there was reading on the sofa which got him sleepy.

 The first day after the first two days of Passover has been winter like.  We had mid day temperatures in the high thirties with rain mixed with sleet.

Just a few miles to the west, there was snow.  

The image was taken in the northern Shenandoah valley. It is of a dogwood tree with snow. The image was posted on weather gang.

 

Otherwise, Beth is better - no one else has symptoms.

 

 

On my way home from work I noticed a row of late blossoming cherry trees.

This was on Montrose Blvd at Bnai Israel.

This second blooming season is about 3 to 4 weeks after the early cherry blossom season.  The trees at the tidal basin in DC are part of the earlier season. There are a lot of trees around East Potomac Park that are part of the second season.

 

We got a child car seat for Oz's visit. The rules for Maryland, as I understand them, require a special car seat for under age 7 or under 57 pounds. 

The child car seat has a cup/bottle holder.

Because.

Well just because.

 Big day.

 

First french fries at Siena.

 

Then car wash at Flagship. They let us stay in the car for the exterior wash.

 

Then filling the car with gasoline.

 

Oz was pretty pleased - especially with the car wash. 

 I arrived at the Dulles international arrival lounge about 1pm today.

  The international air line information kiosk indicated that the flight Tamar and Oz were on was canceled.  Several other people were waiting for passengers on this flight and each of us went searching for information. One woman went to an information desk near the lounge and after 20 minutes all she found out was 'yes it was cancelled'. I called Brussels Airline and after about 10 minutes was told I would have to find the Brussels Airline ticket office to get more info.  

 

Just then appearing on the United Airline Kiosk was that a plane had already arrived from Brussels at 220 (it  was about 145pm when this went up - so a time anomaly). Then the status was changed to 'Landed' (still a time anomaly) and then, about 210pm, to 'in customs' (still a time anomaly).  Eventually, about 230pm  Oz and Tamar came out to the arrival lounge area.

 

Then I went to leave the airport and the parking payment machine ate my Discover Card - although it did lift the barrier gate.

Anyway, the ride home was nowhere near as stressful as the airport.

 

The check is dated 1 April and indicates that it is a tax refund.

Well I had not filed yet for 2021 so I figured this must be for 2020 where I already received a refund back in October 2021.

A letter from the IRS should have followed this to explain that when I request $5k or so in refund they decided to hold $1k back in case they found something in the return.

As George point out, the $28.59 is interest and I should expect to receive a form 1099-G next year to report it on 2022 tax filing..

 

I gave plasma at the Red Cross on Mar 29.  It took a while until my vitals were uploaded to their website.

 

metrics were: bp 130/86 (a bit high but not worrisome), pulse=68 (good) and hg=14.1.

 

The hemoglobin was an improvement from the 13.3 last time.  I made an effort to have some beef the two days before the donation.
