On Feb 23 our noon temperature was about 70F. On Feb 24, the noon temperature was about 40F.  Overnight we had some freezing rain.  The image, from am Feb 25, is a cherry blossom tree in front of the Rockville Aquatic Center.

 

 

I was there this morning to use the hydrotherapy pool (hot tub with air jets).  Today, was the first time since last summer that they did not require masks. Still a number of people wore them.

 The Montgomery Police have a post seeking ID of the break in perp.

Surveillance footage showed him then walking into an office space rented by a store at the site, which he stole property from, police said. The man later fled the scene in a white Transit or Sprinter-style van.

In a news release, police described the suspect as a white man wearing glasses, a yarmulke, black Adidas pants and a scarf at the time of the burglary.

Yesterday was warm.  It hit 67F at National Airport and it was near 50F as late as 8PM.

Overnight we had snow.

Not a big event, just nice to look at with the roads and sidewalks mostly clear and not deep enough to weigh down branches.

 

  If every snow event was like this, I would be pleased.

An IRS auditor was behind a desk.  I was in a chair and I had brought George with me to advise.

The IRS auditor said, "Well I think we are done, we don't need more info from you and

you don't owe any money."

George said, "Could we have that in writing."

The IRS agent said, "Sure." and took out a form and signed it and gave it to me.

I looked at it. The form had her signature and date but also had about 4 more lines for other IRS people to sign and date.

I asked, "How do I get these other officials to sign and date."

She said, "They may be in this building somewhere."

 

Then I woke up very annoyed.

 

Lamb and Lettuce

I bought lamb ribs today. They were on sale for $9.99/lb.  

 

I remember in the early 70s, I once got this product for only $0.15/lb (I think the regular price was $0.19.lb. 

 

When I came back from the store and Irwin saw it he said something like, "that's about the same cost per pound as the plastic wrapping".

 

Today I also washed and checked a Romaine-Iceberg hybrid lettuce.  

It seems crisper than regular Romaine and is advertised as having a longer refrigerator shelf life, less vulnerable to insect damage and more vitamin C and E. 

The restaurant didn't plan to change lettuce types but bought it because of problems in the supply chain - this lettuce was about 40% more in cost than what they bought a few months ago.  The longer  shelf life may, however, offset some of that cost.

 

I was at the Red Cross Tuesday 1 February donating plasma (image 1).  BP= 100/80, pulse=98 (weirdly good BP weirdly high pulse). Hg=15.2

 

I won't be donating platelets until the mask requirement is gone because the platelet donation takes over 2 hours (frequently close to 3 hours) and it becomes hard to breath for me wearing a mask for that long. 

Since I had a shingles vaccine (dose 2) January 31, the phlebotomist asked during the interview,

 

"Did you have any reaction to the vaccine?"

I answered, "No. Well, it did turn me into a newt, but I got better".
